Itadakimasu is a Japanese term used before eating a meal. It can be interpreted in multiple ways, including Taking Lives. This is a performance artwork to thank the earth  for all its resources allowing humans to live.

Daisuke Takeya was born and raised in Japan. An interdisciplinary artist, he obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Graduate School of Figurative Art at the New York Academy of Art and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His praxis is comprised of the exploration of nature and plausibility in contemporary society, and hinges on various double meanings. Currently based in Toronto, Canada and Ishinomaki, Japan, Daisuke has had numerous international solo and group exhibitions. Venues have included the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto, Nuit Blanche (Toronto), SVA Gallery (NYC), Wagner College Gallery (NYC), Kyoto Art Center, Saison Art Program, Roppongi Art Night 2013, Fukushima Contemporary Art Biennale, Canon New Cosmos Exhibition, Yamagata Biennale, the Japan Foundation, Toronto, Xpace, and the Prince Takamado Gallery at the Embassy of Canada in Japan.
