LILITH is the artist duo Elin Lundgren and Petter Pettersson. Through performance works that explore themes of group belonging, violence, sex, and exclusion, they create their pieces as living images in intuitive, collage-like processes. In recent years, the starting point for LILITH’s work has often been linked to human internal states and drives in relation to what is happening in our world. LILITH aims to propose alternative thought patterns to the agreed-upon reality we all conform to. They create worlds where norms are ambiguous and contradictory, where rules are inconsistent, and where meaning is found in the in-between rather than in clear understanding. In these worlds, what takes place in the mind and in dreams is as true as what happens outside. At its core, LILITH’s work revolves around universal human questions of love, longing, and sorrow, driven by the desire to enter the viewer’s consciousness as a disruption, with the hope of understanding what it means to be human. Their new work, Shiny Riot is a public interactive performance led by an 11-year-old girl.

Elin Lundgren and Petter Pettersson have worked together with visual and performing arts in various forms since 1999. In 2007, the artist duo founded the acclaimed performance studio – Lilith Performance Studio – an independent arena for practical artistic research focusing on newly produced large-scale art performances by invited artists from all over the world.
