Over the last two decades, the development of communication technologies has completely transformed distribution and access to information, opening the door to new trends and disciplines such as citizen journalism and activism. This project is articulated through these possibilities with performance as a tool of communication.Using the mass media as a tool of empowerment, I will work in a self-sufficient manner with available equipment such as computers, projectors, laptops, iPads and other tablets, smartphones and other handheld devices to articulate a series of daily thoughts, looking to create dynamic forms of storytelling, indigenous languages and new modes of political expression.
Exile, poetry and the everyday life, the reconstruction of identity and cyberactivism are fundamental concepts in the development of Yolanda Duarte‘s work. Bringing together these concepts to create small visual epiphanies. Duarte is exploring the possibilities for technology to encourage communion of digital media and traditional arts. A multidisciplinary artist holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNEARTES National University of the Arts in Caracas, Duarte has exhibited in various places, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bogotá and Caracas, Saatchi Gallery educational space in London, Center Pompidou in Paris, Central University of Venezuela in Caracas, University of the Arts in Helsinki, MAMBO in Bogotá, and Witzenhausen Gallery in Amsterdam.
