Ringing a bell in dialogue

The challenge of this performance is to develop a performative image from the simple physical action of ringing a bell with increasing intensity. I have performed this action solo, and in dialogue with traditional musicians, for example in 2008 in Bali with two gamelan players and in 2010 at the National Review of Live Art in Glasgow with six bagpipe players.

Jürgen Fritz has presented his work across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. He is a co-founder of Black Market International and of the International Performance Association in Hildesheim. He is the artistic director of the festival of performance art ZOOM! and the co-founder/organizer of the Festival Platform Young Performance Artists (Berlin). Since 1995 he has lectured in performance art at various universities in Germany.
